Fiber Optics is a technology in which signals are converted from electrical into optical signals, transmitted through a thin glass or plastic fiber, and converted into electrical signals. In this project, we designed an intercom using fiber to transmit the sound as optical (light) signal. The sound wave is received from the microphone as an electrical signal and then converted to an optical signal using LED which then is transmitted through the fiber optic cable. The previous process is reversed at the receiver side using a photo detector to convert back the optical signal to electrical signal and then out through speakers.
